x-ray image is a "shadowgraph" that does not distinguish between individual
layers. Overlapping features complicate interpretation. |
 As we isolate individual layers (each of which a horizontal slice parallel to
the x-ray tube and the array of detectors, we "focus" on features of a
particular depth. |
